Four seventies with a few tricks up their sleeve.

A female cop with her first big case.

A brutal murder.

Welcome to…

Fifth Murder Club

In a peaceful retirement village, four friends don’t meet weekly in the Jigsaw Room to discuss unsolved crimes; together, they call themselves the Fifth Killer Club.

When a local developer is found dead with a mysterious photo next to the body, the Fifth Murder Club suddenly finds themselves in the middle of their first live case.

As bodies begin to pile up, can our unorthodox but brilliant gang catch the killer before it’s too late?

The club consists of four retired individuals living in a retirement community in Kent, England. They meet weekly to discuss cold cases taken from the files of a past member, a detective. Meanwhile, the retirement community developer wants to add more housing by tearing down the burial ground of a convent and building on the space he currently owns. Everyone else is against it. As conflict develops, his contractor is murdered. So the Fifth Murder Club is currently investigating an open case. The characters are very interesting. The plot progresses logically but full of surprises. It ends satisfactorily. This book will appeal to lovers of Golden Age mysteries and traditional mysteries. The narrator is very talented but the recording quality is uneven. However, if you are not British, I recommend listening to the recording as the performance offers a sense of British humor that you would otherwise miss.

I am a huge reader of murder mysteries, and this book quickly became one of my favorites. It’s very well planned, with lots of twists and turns and red herrings, but there’s also enough clues scattered along the way that you can pick up if you read very carefully (or, like me, don’t pick it up). them until later when they are shown to you…). The characters are wonderful, multi – dimensional, funny and intelligent, tender and imperfect in endearing ways. It’s also a great setting for a murder mystery. I just wish Cooper’s Chase was real so I could move there.
