The Tomb Of Hercules / Wilde/Chase, Book 2, Audiobook Online By: Andy McDermott

An Ancient Warrior. A GREAT STORE of GOLD. AN AWESOME CITY.

It was the chance of a lifetime – the chance to prove that the tomb containing the remains of the legendary hero Hercules really existed. If American archaeologist Nina Wilde could locate it, it would be the most important historical find ever unearthed. But when Nina and her former SAS bodyguard, Eddie Chase, begin the search, it becomes clear that the others want to find the grave – and the unimaginable wealth within – and will do anything. what to get there first.

Who will find Hercules’ tomb first, and what great treasure does it contain? From New York to Shanghai, from Switzerland to the diamond mines of Botswana, Nina and Eddie must stay one step ahead of their enemies in a race to solve a mystery as ancient as civilization itself. But when a beautiful woman from Eddie’s past joins the hunt, all the rules change – and in this mortal game, their next move could be the most dangerous.

I love this easy – to – read fast pace. Clearly, male authors have a lot to learn about female psychology. Compare Nina with ex – wife. Absolutely not cool. And to write a heroine who blames herself for his brutal words. No way. After sending my ex – wife back to China, keeping dozens of secrets from my girlfriend, then insulting her intimate escapes, I quickly began to hate Eddie Chase and hoped Nina would come to her senses. But alas, only a male author would write so unrealistically to the point of emotional weakness ‘oh my god, he offended me, so I’ll blame myself and bring him back to the female lead. Great story, jerk hero.

I like “The Grave of Hercules” like Andy’s first book. This book took a little longer to really get the story moving, but after that point it was pretty good. There are quite a few action scenes, and they are not very realistic, but they are very creative. I compared Andy’s style to Matthew Reilly’s previous books, before Matt’s style became too “overwhelming”. The character development isn’t great, but enough for this kind of story; and the plot is not very deep, but there are a few twists and turns. Overall, McDermott accomplished exactly what I wanted from this book, which is entertainment.
