The Twelve/The Passage Trilogy, Book 2 – Audiobook Online

“The Twelve” is the second book in The Passage Trilogy by Justin Cronin. It continues the gripping post-apocalyptic story set in a world overrun by vampires known as “virals.” In this installment, three strangers find themselves navigating through the chaos of the man-made apocalypse, each facing their own struggles.

Lila, a doctor and expectant mother, is determined to protect her unborn child even as society crumbles around her. She remains steadfast in her plans for her baby’s arrival despite the pervasive violence and infection that surrounds them.

Kittridge, also known as “Last Stand in Denver,” is forced to leave his stronghold and embarks on a perilous journey. Alone and armed, he must navigate through a world infested with virals, fully aware that his limited supply of gas will only take him so far.

As these characters navigate through the ruins of civilization, they encounter danger at every turn. The virals, relentless in their pursuit, seem to be evolving and adapting, making survival an ever-increasing challenge.

“The Twelve” delves deeper into the origins of the virals and unveils the mysteries surrounding their creation. The narrative weaves together multiple timelines, alternating between the present-day chaos and the past events that led to the outbreak.

With its intense action, suspenseful plotting, and rich character development, “The Twelve” immerses readers in a dark and harrowing world where survival hangs in the balance. It sets the stage for the epic conclusion of The Passage Trilogy.

In the worldwide bestselling and critically acclaimed novel, Justin Cronin builds an unforgettable world transformed by a government experiment that went horribly wrong. Now scope expands and intensity deepens as the epic story rushes forward….

Today, as the man-made apocalypse unfolds, three strangers navigate the chaos. Lila, a doctor and mother-to-be, is devastated by the spread of violence and infection so she continues to plan for the birth of her child even as society falls apart around her. that. Kittridge, known to the world by the nickname “Last Stand in Denver”, was forced to flee his stronghold and is now on the run from the infected, armed but alone and well aware that a tank of gas will only get him so far. April is a teenager fighting to guide her brother safely through a landscape of death and ruin. These three will know that they haven’t been completely abandoned – and that involves hope, even in the darkest of nights.

One hundred years in the future, Amy and the others fight for the salvation of mankind…not knowing that the rules have changed. The enemy has evolved, and a new dark order has formed with a vision of a future far worse than human extinction. If the Twelve fall, the one who unites to defeat them will pay the heaviest price.

This is a Must Hear. This book is worth a lot of $45.50 and is worth much more than a credit. If you haven’t read The Passage, buy it, listen to it, love it, and come back here. Both Novels are wonderfully written and filled with great characters and stories. Both are filled with excitement, a bit sad/crazy, and a few run to the edge of your chair and jump. And when it’s not all tension, it’s like gravity.

I didn’t think the second book in the series could beat the first, but it did. This is an incredible addition to a story that will quickly capture your imagination and keep you hooked on each long piece (each of these is over 500 pages long). I can’t wait to see how this story is resolved.

The basic story is post-apocalyptic in nature – a vampire virus discovered in Bolivia got into the hands of the US military and they tried to develop it for war purposes. They tested it on 12 violent prisoners (hence the title of this section). Predictably, something went wrong and the Twelve were unleashed on the world; they slaughtered the population. The first book is about a trip between the old world and the new world (hence the title of that part) and ends with the realization that the 12 main “viruses” (their word for vampires – I like the concept. It makes you look at vampires from a different perspective and prevents you from seeing them as traditional vampires – these creatures are anything but traditional) that must be kill to regain the freedom of the old world. This second book is about the hunt for the Twelve.
