Be ready to grope

I’m not really a private investigator. I only played one on TV.

She played this courageous character for five years on the hit TV show Relentless, which catapulted her to fame and the role of Hollywood’s sweetheart.

When her marriage falls apart, her finances dwindle and her father disappears, Joey finds herself on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, trying to put her life back together away from the spotlight. A woman finds Raven – er, Joey – and insists on hiring her fictional partner to find her missing boyfriend. When someone begins staging a crime scene to fit an episode of Relentless, Joey has no choice but to get involved.

Joey’s clumsy investigative skills pit her against Detective Jackson Sullivan and develop feelings for her thrill-seeking neighbor Zane Oakley. Can Joey control the Raven inside her and find the whodunit before she finishes the job? And where is her father? Can she handle fame or is disappearing into obscurity a wiser choice?

The dominance of errors

Sometimes in life you just want to scream “Take two!”

When the Polar Plunge goes horribly wrong and someone dies in the icy water, former TV detective Joey Darling wants nothing to do with the ensuing investigation. But when her photo is found in the dead man’s wallet and witnesses claim she was the last person to see the man, she realizes she has been cast in a role she never wanted. : suspect.

Joey makes the terrible mistake of challenging the killer on camera and now it’s a race to find the bad guy before he finds her. There are many dangers and suspects more difficult to find than the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island. But when Joey discovers the connection between this case and her father’s disappearance, she knows there’s no turning back.

The more Joey tries to be his super detective, the more things go wrong. Will Joey figure this out? Or will her reign of misrule continue?

Safe in mistakes

My name is Joey Darling, and I am a disgrace to fantasy detectives everywhere.

When actress Joey Darling discovered a mermaid tail covered in fresh blood while hiking in a remote nature reserve, she knew something fishy was going on.

As the details emerge, Joey realizes she’s facing a problem she’s encountered too many times: someone who craves fame falls victim to a predator. With the help of neighbor Zane Oakley and the opposition of local detective Jackson Sullivan, Joey searches for answers, unaware of the deadly web she is about to entangle.

Joey knows she’s a fish in water when it comes to solving cases, but can she use her talent – acting – to help find the missing woman? Or will Joey swim with sharks?

I love all of Christy Barritt’s books, but especially when it’s a series and I can read one after another. That’s what happened with this trilogy of books. Absolutely impossible to put it down and read all three. Joey Darling plays a private investigator in a canceled TV series, her marriage is over, her finances are in trouble and she doesn’t know where her father is. She moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in hopes of finding her father and escaping her busy life in Hollywood. She continued her previous hairdressing job, working in Aunt Dizzy’s hair salon. She is easily recognized for her star status and is also somehow mistaken for a real private investigator and approached to help search for some missing people. Over the three books, she makes some new friends, her neighbor Zane, Phoebe, who works in the smoothie shop, and has developed a somewhat testy friendship with the local police detective, Jackson. , mainly because she was caught up in several police investigations. Despite her interference, she ends up helping the police solve several crimes. There are some tense moments, some funny situations, and along the way, you’ll be rooting for Joey until the last page is turned.
