The Raven By Sylvain Reynard – Audiobook Online

The Raven is the first book in the series The Florentine written by Sylvain Reynard. Set in Florence, Italy, the story follows the lives of two main characters, Raven Wood and William York, as they navigate a world filled with mystery, art, and supernatural elements.

Raven Wood is an American art restorer who has recently moved to Florence to work at the Uffizi Gallery. She is haunted by a tragic past and carries emotional scars that have shaped her present. Raven is a strong and independent woman who is determined to rebuild her life and find solace in her work.

William York, also known as “The Prince,” is a powerful and enigmatic figure who rules over Florence’s underworld. He is a vampire with centuries of history and secrets. William becomes infatuated with Raven from the moment he lays eyes on her, and their paths become intertwined in ways neither of them could have anticipated.

As Raven delves deeper into her work at the Uffizi Gallery, she discovers a hidden room containing a mysterious painting known as “The Prince.” This painting holds a connection to William York and reveals clues about his past. As Raven uncovers more about the painting and its significance, she becomes entangled in a dangerous web of intrigue and supernatural forces.

Throughout the book, Reynard weaves together elements of art history, mythology, and romance. The story explores themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the power of love to heal even the deepest wounds. The author’s vivid descriptions bring Florence to life, immersing readers in its rich history and cultural heritage.

The Raven is a captivating blend of mystery, suspense, and romance. It keeps readers on the edge of their seats as they unravel the secrets of Florence’s underworld alongside Raven and William. The book also introduces a cast of intriguing secondary characters who add depth and complexity to the story.

Overall, The Raven is a beautifully written novel that combines art, history, and the supernatural to create an immersive reading experience. It sets the stage for the rest of The Florentine series, leaving readers eager to continue the journey with Raven and William.

Raven Wood spends the day at the Uffizi gallery in Florence restoring Renaissance art. But an innocent walk home after an evening with friends changed her life forever. When she intervened in a homeless man’s senseless beating, his attackers attacked her, dragging her into an alley. Raven only loses consciousness when their attack is interrupted by a series of growls, followed by screams from her attackers. Fortunately, she fainted, but it wasn’t long before she caught a glimpse of a figure whispering to her…

Cassita vulneratus.

When Raven woke up, she was inexplicably changed. When she returned to the Uffizi, no one recognized her. More disturbingly, she discovered that she had been absent for an entire week. With no recollection of her disappearance, Raven learns that her absence coincides with one of the greatest robberies in Uffizi history – the theft of a priceless set of illustrations by Botticelli. When the police identify her as their prime suspect, Raven tries to clear her name. She searches for one of Florence’s wealthiest and most elusive men in order to uncover the truth. Their meeting leads Raven to a dark underworld where residents kill to keep their secrets…

I wanted to buy this book last year but put it off until near the release of the second book. I’m so glad I did because it would kill me to wait for The Florentine sequel. This is a beautiful and romantic love story. While it doesn’t end with a big change, it still leaves me wanting more. Thank goodness I ordered ‘The Shadow’ already. John Morgan’s narration is also excellent.

Another great book by Sylvain Reynard. That is a wonderful story. A well-executed vampire romance. It was narrated perfectly. Sometimes a romance for me is ruined by male narrators trying to voice female characters, and the female character sounds like a pitiful underdog. It would be better if they just made characters. And he did it all well. The only bad part is the ending. It makes you wait for the next book!

Great story by SR and great to hear John Michael Morgan again! He’s one of the best voices in recent memory for audiobooks. I wish he did more but I’m glad he brought life to the SR characters!!

SR did it again!! The beauty and depth of her characters are breathtaking! I absolutely love this book!! I can’t wait for the next installment in the series!!! Must read!! Love this book! SR has outdone itself with the first book in the Florentine series.

This is a beautiful love story between two of unlikely lovers from different worlds, who are brought together due to an unfortunate incident involving Jane “Raven” Wood and William York, Prince of Florence’s vampire underworld, who has come to her aid. Thanks to John Michael Morgan, the narrator whose voice is music to my ears. I could hear him telling stories day and night.
