I’ve had Melissa de la Cruz’s Descendants series on my TBR for a few years now. I read the first book when it came out, then as usual fell behind when the rest hit the shelves! I dived into Return to the Isle of the Lost a bit blindly. I vaguely recall some things from the first book and things from the Disney Channel movie, and luckily that was enough! There’s even a helpful synopsis from the very beginning that sets the story up for now, which is SUPER cool!

Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay have all adapted quite well to life in Auradon. They defeated Maleficent, now a lizard locked in a secret room in Ben’s palace. Mal and her friends are accepted by the other students… and life is mostly fun. Then one day, Mal and her friends all receive secret messages telling them to return to the Isle of Lost. The notes are vague on details and there aren’t many clues to go on, until Carlos does some hacking and discovers an Anti-Hero group’s website that has a picture of their face with an X on it. up there. It becomes clear that Mal and her friends must return to their old land to see what the villains may be up to.
