The story follows Zafar-Ben-A’Ziz, a Sudanese man who returns home to Omdurman after spending some time in London. He discovers that his homeland is about to face a major crisis as the powerful Queen of Istar plans to invade and conquer Omdurman. Zafar must do everything in his power to try and prevent this invasion, while dealing with personal and political challenges along the way. Overall, the novel explores themes of loyalty, courage and sacrifice in the face of great challenges.

Interesting story about Africa and conditions in the Arabic north. The narrative perspective around the begining of the 20th century is reflected in the language. Pretty solid adventure garn.
