Head On – Lock In Series Book 2 By John Scalzi

Head-On became one of the most anticipated novels after Lock-In, got a great response from the audience. This second chapter of the Lock-In Series is a mystery thriller.  You will be able to enjoy some bone-chilling suspense as well. The book is written by John Scalzi who is a prominent American author of science fiction and mystery novels, and sometimes. His other novels are also worth having a go at where a couple of most prominent ones are Murder by Other Means and The Last Emperox.

Amber Benson narrated this audiobook. The performance was excellent that gave due importance to excellent character building and portraying the right expression for the audience.

Hilketa is an extremely violent and feverish pastime where the participants attack others with hammers and swords. The primary goal of this frenetic game is to get the head of the opponent and then carry it to the goalpost. A spot something like this involving bone, blood, and flesh would be impossible. But, all the participants of the game are “threeps”. They were robot type bodies that were controlled by people having the Haden’s Syndrome. No one gets hurt but the brutality on the show is real and the spectators there love every bit of it.

One day, a star athlete died right on the playing field. Nobody could figure out if it is just an accident or a murder, but everything changed from then onwards. 

The story of this book is just as good as the first Lock-In novel. Some audience has an opinion that the second chapter lacks uniqueness and was just a copy of the first one . However, the general opinion is that the book has a gripping mystery and it has got the significance of its own.
