The Troll Hunter
- Narrated by: John Lee
A warrior with a secret. A group of assassins. And a monster of legend.
It was a time of war. After years of relentless and uncompromising fighting, the weary nation of Sunja realizes its spine is about to break. Desperate for help, the king sent a company of soldiers to the north in desperation begging for help from the neighboring countries.
A Sunjan horseman named Bloor has the undisputed mission of protecting a mysterious and heavily armored koch destined for the northern kingdom. Under his command was a mixed force of heavy infantry, cavalry and bodyguards chosen by the king himself, all tasked with escorting the koch and keeping it safe. Not only must Bloor stay alert to his enemies’ movements, he must also maintain order among his subordinates – and temper their apparent hatred of one another.
And Bloor must confront a rival cavalryman, a man bitter and resentful at not being chosen to command the mission.
Despite the tension in the ranks, orders are orders.
Go koch north. Protect it at all costs.
The perished and divided company will soon discover that it is not the war-torn northern wilderness they will have to watch out for, or the legions of hateful Nordish soldiers seeking to take over. get the koch and its real content.
A much more sinister threat awaits Bloor and his soldiers, just beyond the sight of Sunja’s high walls, one that will rip through Bloor and his orders.
A story about heroic fantasy. Some violent images and language.
The Troll Hunter is a well-written and engaging story with a page-turning plot, memorable characters, and vividly depicted action scenes. It reminds me of the Malazan series except that there are no gods and demigods.
Several members of an elite infantry unit receive orders to help escort a mysterious armored wagon to a city in another country. When they were joined in this mission by an elite unit of cavalry, some decorated cavalry and a sizable portion of the king’s elite guard, it was clear they were escorting something. that is of great value. As the mission progressed, it also became clear that nearly all of the officers in charge of the different units were extremely hostile to each other from previous campaigns and that they were always undercutting each other’s power.
