Pinkie Duvall. Brown’s villain is perfect, given his obsession with growing orchids. Duvall’s ties to organized crime, keen intellect, and ability to control any situation make him a formidable adversary. One of his weak points? His young wife, Remy, whom he actually keeps in lock and key. No wonder this is where Basile’s plan for justice lies. But is it that simple?

Once again, Brown helps readers to familiarize themselves with her characters expertly, while still leaving an air of mystery about them for the reader to discover.
