Judgment of Mars is the fifth book in the Starship Mage series and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s filled with nail-biting adventures that readers of this series have come to expect. What I love most about this book in the series, however, is the way the author brings together events from the previous books in the series and shows that they are not isolated events. are parts of a larger, more complex rug. We learn more about old enemies and about the heart of Mars.

From the very beginning, the best thing about this series was its protagonist, Damien Montgomery. He is a man motivated not by a lust for power, but by a code of honor that requires him to be willing to sacrifice himself for those he has sworn to protect. He is not someone who is free of uncertainties and fears, but someone who faces and overcomes them. Who could not be moved when he said, “I speak for Mars. Will you listen?” Every time that happens, I get really upset. As with all books in the series, it ends with the theme of a new beginning for the next book in the series.
