Obsessed A Memoir of My Life with OCD – Free Online Audiobook
Obsessed is a health book by author Allison Britz.
Until her sophomore year of high school, 15-year-old Allison Britz lived a comfortable life in an idyllic town. She is a devoted student with lots of extracurricular activities, friends and loving parents at home. But after waking up from a vivid nightmare in which she was diagnosed with brain cancer, she believes the dream is a warning. Allison believes she must do something to prevent the cancer of her dreams from coming true.
In the weeks that followed, her brain listed more dangers and remedies. She must avoid hair dryers, computers, cell phones, computers, anything green, bananas, oatmeal, and most of her clothes.
My other half has OCD. It wasn’t until I read this memoir and got punched in the heart that I realized just how light her obsession was. They are nothing compared to the author’s. Now I feel I understand my partner a little better. This is not an easy book to read. I cried a lot while reading the first half before the author’s diagnosis and her obsessions and worries got worse and worse. I can only imagine the hell she had to go through at school. I miss school and sometimes it sucks. She must be trying to cover up her illness. The memoir got even better when the author was diagnosed. She gradually brought her OCD under control and picked up the pieces the disease had created in her life. I cried like a big baby many times.
