That’s lucky! An opportunity to meet Belinda and please the queen when I asked her to give up her claim to the throne so that I could marry Darcy. Only that is as far as my luck takes me. I soon found out that Mother was attending a party at the mansion, and that she had a secret mission of her own for me. Then Darcy appeared and told me that the fate of a world on the brink of war might very well depend on what I overheard over dinner.

Fans of the series will appreciate Georgie’s adventures in a new environment. We were introduced to new characters, and old favorites also made a brief appearance. I was a bit disappointed that Georgie’s maid Queenie was left at home and not traveling to Italy. I remember hearing that some readers found Queenie’s clumsiness a bit too distracting, but I definitely miss her.

I would absolutely recommend On Her Majesty’s Frightly Secret Service. I recommend reading this series to gain a greater appreciation of the series and of everything Georgie has been through over the years. However, it is quite easy to gather enough background information in the first few chapters if you are new to the series. Georgie is a friendly storyteller, and one can’t help but support her and want her to succeed in life.

Perhaps this is why people are so eager to talk to her; This trait proves to be an invaluable asset to an investigator. Georgie’s future holds many intriguing events: the Berlin Olympics, the death of King George VI and the ensuing abdication crisis, and World War II. It will be interesting to see how these events play out in Georgie’s story. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book!
