Once Upon a Time in the North – Free Full Audiobook
Once Upon a Time in the North is a great book by author Philip Pullman.
Another mesmerizing episode from His Dark Materials universe set in the far North Pole, including the first meeting of those two legends and friends – Lee Scoresby, hot air ballooner Texan bridge and Iorek Byrnison, the armored bear.
This is a stand-alone story that predates the events of His Dark Materials, and retells the story of Lee Scorsby and Iorek Byrnison’s first meeting. I like this much better than Lyra’s Oxford. Mainly because the story is longer (and the print is smaller) and is a very interesting look at the character and history of this taller astronaut. I really enjoyed this novel. It comes with a mini board game (on the back cover there is a small package taped inside) which I haven’t opened yet, but they have instructions on how to play in the book, as well as a reference to the game inside the story itself.
I haven’t opened it yet as I’m a collector, and I’m not sure how opening that part would really affect the book and how easy it would be to put it back in place. But, for the story, I found myself completely immersed. I really like those two characters, and they are drawn here as richly as in the series, this is a must-have character for any fan of the series or fan of fantasy.
