One Wild Night is a fun, light-hearted, quick read. Far from their usual fare, this book eases – but isn’t entirely devoid of – the heavy themes and deep emotions we often see from both of these authors. It was clear that while I was reading, they had a lot of fun writing this book, the joy of the process reflected in the writing.

One Wild Night is the first book in the much-anticipated collaborative series from AL Jackson and Rebecca Shea called The Hollywood Chronicles. These are supposed to be a bunch of interconnected standalone products and I’m excited to see what happens. One Wild Night is written in a dual first-person perspective, narrated by Kaylee and Paxton.

This couple, Kaylee and Paxton, have great chemistry. I’m a celebrity crush on a ‘normal’ person, so this is right in my garage. Paxton is at the heart of the story, his perseverance and the way he cares for Kaylee when she’s too hesitant to pursue her celebrity one night stand has him in his heart.

The plot is fun and moves quickly. It’s not a huge revolution, but that’s what makes these types of books so enjoyable to spend a few hours reading on a lazy weekend. Although this is a short book it is by no means lacking, it is certainly well-liked, but it totally works for this book. I appreciate that Miss Jackson and Miss Shea still add a bit of anxiety and emotion to this book, it helps One Wild Night not feel so light when it comes from such heavyweights.
