Spell or High Water/ Magic 2.0, Book 2 – Free Full Audiobook

Spell or High Water is the second book in the Magic 2.0 series by author Scott Meyer.
The adventures of an American hacker in medieval England continue as Martin Banks takes the next step on his journey towards mastering the power to change reality and fulfill his mission.

A month has passed since Martin helped defeat the evil programmer Jimmy, and things couldn’t be better. His love life, that is. Feeling distant and lost, Gwen journeyed to Atlantis, a tolerant and benevolent kingdom ruled by Witches, and a place known as a safe haven for all female travelers. time.

Martin and Philip were invited to a summit in Atlantis for all the leaders of the time travel colonies, and now Martin thinks this will be an opportunity to try again with Gwen. This is the Martin Banks we’re talking about, so murder, mystery, and lofty intrigue all stand in the way of a guy who just wants one more time to get the girl.

The sequel to the fun movies Off to Be the Wizard, Scott Meyer’s Spell or High Water proves that no matter what powers you have over time and space, you can’t control bad luck.

This is the second book in the Magic 2.0 series. While the first book is set in a conventional patriarchal world, this book is primarily set in a matriarchal society. It made for an interesting twist from most books. Role reversal is great. The objectification and trivialization of the men are both poignant to comment on society, humorous and bring a lot of laughs.

This is a fun, upbeat, fun book with lots of laugh-out-loud moments.

The narrator, Luke Daniels, is brilliant. Be sure to get the audiobook for this series! His quirky character’s voice is a great addition to the book’s humor.

This series is quickly becoming one of my favorite series, largely due to their well-written and interactive characters. And, while not one of the main characters of the series, I think my favorite character in this book is Ampyx. His character is very funny and has an ending, both in his journey to becoming a servant and in his act of helping Martin at the end. I hope that we get to see him more if the story goes back to Atlantis.

I also listened to part of this book as an audiobook and Luke Daniels did a great job as the narrator. His voice choices for the characters range from Phillip’s deep voice to Martin’s tendency to be almost childish when excited to the difference between Brit the Younger and Brit the Elder even when he’s excited. they have the same voice, it’s amazing.
