Strange Brew is the 6th book of the Callahan Garrity mysteries and by far my least favorite. The plot bores me quite a bit, and while I acknowledge this author’s talent for always finding shrewd ordinary characters to portray the plot, I have no sympathy for these people. I did not find any sympathy or connection with them. I think this whole mystery is sad and dark.
On Halloween night, Callahan discovered the body of a businessman, named Jackson Poole. Police quickly concluded that an old hippie, Wuvvy may have killed him.
At first, Callahan wasn’t really interested in investigating the case, but when Wuvvy disappeared and was later found dead, and then her mother was robbed in her front yard, Callahan couldn’t get past the case.
As the mystery develops, Callahan, her mother Edna, and the Sisters arrive in a small town in South Georgia, where they meet several characters from the past who may know the truth about the history of the past. this culprit. Since then, Callahan never gave up and continued to uncover more puzzles.
Callahan continues to try to find out who killed the owner of the small brewery in town and the crazy woman no one understands.
I have to admit this makes me wonder who might have killed them but the ending makes a lot of sense.
The characters are witty and whimsical but you can’t help but be drawn to them.
