The Miracle At Speedy Motors / The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Book 9, Audiobook Online By: Alexander McCall Smith
In the latest installment of this wildly entertaining and best-selling series, Precious Ramotswe is doing what she does best – helping people solve their problems and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
Mma Ramotswe is busy investigating her latest case: a woman searching for her family. The problem is, the woman doesn’t know her real name or if any of her family members are currently living. Meanwhile, Phuti Radiphuti bought Mma Makutsi a gorgeous new bed. Unfortunately, it will inadvertently cause her many sleepless nights. And life is no less complicated at Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors, where J.L.B. Matekoni – the respected husband of Mma Ramotswe – has fallen into the hands of a doctor who promises a miracle cure for his daughter’s condition, which Mma Ramotswe finds hard to believe. But Precious Ramotswe tackles these difficulties with her usual grace and sense of humour, and eventually discovers that life’s greatest wonders are often the little things.
Once again, Alexander McCall Smith chronicled the happenings at the 1st Women’s Detective Agency and at Speedy Motors with his usual intelligence and wit, without a word. McCall Smith has a special gift for writing with awareness, awareness, acceptance, and insight into the human condition without the hint of even psychological chatter. I also like books on psychology, no doubt about that, but this author seems to achieve similar results with his fictional crew and their life stories. And many bow before the narrator, who continues to bring this familiar cast of Botswanan characters to life.
I present this latest book in Alexander McCall Smith’s #1 Female Detective Agency Series. In this series, the characters are funny and human, without the violence and sex that are often the elements of mystery books. If you’re looking for a lighthearted simple story, this will fulfill that need. If you’re following the series like I am, you’ll wonder if Precious Ramotswe’s “engaged” assistant detective, Grace Makutsi, will ever get married; maybe in the next book. I can’t help but want to pounce on the narrator. Just like in life, things happen in their own time.
