The Perfect Catch By Maggie Dallen – Audiobook Online

The Perfect Catch is the first book in the “Kissing the Enemy” series written by Maggie Dallen. This contemporary romance novel follows the story of two main characters who find themselves on opposite sides of a high school rivalry.

The book introduces us to the protagonists, Lily Fowler and Sawyer Murphy. Lily is a talented softball player and a dedicated student who takes her studies seriously. She is determined to secure a scholarship for college and escape her small town life. On the other hand, Sawyer is the star quarterback of the rival football team and comes from a wealthy family. He is known for his charm and popularity among his peers.

Lily and Sawyer’s paths cross when they are forced to work together on a school project. Despite their initial animosity due to their school rivalry, they gradually discover that they have more in common than they thought. As they spend more time together, their feelings begin to change, and they find themselves falling for each other.

However, their blossoming relationship faces numerous challenges. The pressure from their friends and families, as well as the expectations placed upon them by their respective teams, make it difficult for Lily and Sawyer to pursue their feelings openly. They must navigate through these obstacles while trying to keep their relationship a secret.

“The Perfect Catch” explores themes of love, friendship, loyalty, and overcoming societal expectations. It delves into the complexities of high school rivalries and how they can affect personal relationships. The book also touches upon issues such as self-discovery, personal growth, and finding one’s own path in life.

Overall, “The Perfect Catch” is a heartwarming tale of young love that showcases the challenges faced by two individuals caught between their personal desires and the expectations of those around them.

No doubt, now Noah is avoiding Callie like the plague while she is living in a dorm on his college campus.

She had hoped this week-long softball clinic would help them forget their clumsy past behind their backs. After all, he taught her everything she knew about the game. But her brother’s best friend is more of an idiot than ever. Until he kissed her.

And now… well, now, she doesn’t know what’s going on between them. But it doesn’t matter. Not really. She’s not here for Noah. She’s just here to show recruiters that she has what it takes to play for a college team.

It was a sure plan… until it all fell apart. Thanks to Noah’s overprotective intervention, she is kicked out of the intro game and any chance of getting a college scholarship slips out of hand. But there might be a way to save her plans and future. She just needs to be seen, right?

Noah is the new coach of a charity softball event, and he owes her a lot of time. She could save her scholarship chance if she can survive his training…and his kisses.

Maggie Dallen is the perfect author of YA High School. (She’s also pretty impressed with the Regent and adult contemporary romances, but that’s another story.) Somehow, her high school crushes resonate with my own (distant) memories of high school like no other. Such is the case again with Perfect Catch (Kiss the Enemy Book 1). Callie and Noah’s romance is fun to watch even as it goes through all the teething pain. Totally interesting, and since this is book 1 in a new series, that means there will be many more to come. I guess those were the other girls in Callie and Noah’s mixed-sex group, and I guessed (hopefully) who they would pair up with. But the fact that I am literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed, I can go on praise – the book certainly deserves it. Since I can’t do that, I’ll just note that the book is definitely a must-read and is easy to recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

I love every word of this book! The longing, angry moments between Noah and Callie created a lot of tension that led to the hot first kiss…and the second. There’s literally so much sizzle and passion that it might be a bit much for teenagers but was perfect for me. I’d totally prefer a cleaner romance that’s still a bit hot, and this definitely has heat. No sex but some mild language. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
