The Power of Experiments – Audiobook Online
“The Power of Experiments” emphasizes the importance of using experiments as a tool to make data-driven decisions. The authors argue that experiments allow us to see and understand causal relationships between variables and can help us make better decisions. They also highlight the advantages of conducting experiments in real-world settings, as opposed to controlled laboratory environments. The book provides examples of successful experiments in various industries, while also addressing the potential ethical implications of experimentation. Overall, the authors encourage readers to embrace a culture of experimentation in their decision-making processes.

The Power of Experiments
- Decision-Making in a Data Driven World
- Narrated by: Timothy Andres Pabon
How organizations – including Google, StubHub, Airbnb and Facebook – learn from experiments in the data-driven world.
Have you logged into Facebook recently? Looking for something on Google? Pick a movie on Netflix? If so, you’ve probably unwittingly participated in multiple trials – also known as randomized controlled trials – designed to test the effects of different online experiences. Once an esoteric tool for academic research, randomized controlled trials have become mainstream. No worthwhile tech company (or its stock price) dares to make major changes to its platform without running tests first to understand how they will affect user behavior. In this book, Michael Luca and Max Bazerman explain the importance of experiments to decision making in a data-driven world.
Luca and Bazerman describe experiments that play a central role in the tech sector, drawing lessons and best practices from the experiences of companies like StubHub, Alibaba, and Uber. Successful experiments could save companies money — like eBay, which discovered how to cut $50 million from its annual advertising budget — or bring to light something previously overlooked, like when Airbnb was forced to face rampant discrimination by hosts. Beyond technology, Luca and Bazerman consider experimentation for the benefit of society — the various ways governments are using testing to influence or “drive” behavior, from voter apathy to school absenteeism. They argue that tests are part of any leader’s toolkit. With this book, readers can become part of the “experimental revolution”.
Can be considered as a great summary of all the advances in the field of testing from different perspectives. There are many articles. Given the wide scope it attempts to cover, it can in some cases be a bit lacking in detail, making it impossible to give a comprehensive overview of the implications. Anyway, everything is properly referenced so more interested readers can find more information.
