I love this book, even if it makes me cry. It’s both uncomfortable and heartbreaking, but also warm and hopeful. Izzy is an amazingly strong character who finds a voice in the darkest places, with the help of friends. The topic is very important and Beashel is very well written. I cannot recommend this book enough and will leave it on my bookshelf for my 6 year old to read when he is a teenager.

The writing is so beautiful, I fell in love with this book immediately. Tackle some big topics, but all through the lens of a teenager, absorbing them at her own pace. Feel very real, never condescending or condescending, and discover finding your own voice amid the many pressures and influences of adolescence. A beautiful debut. Can’t wait to see what this author writes.
