The Trafalgar Gambit/Ark Royal, Book 3 – Audiobook Online
The Trafalgar Gambit is the third book in the Ark Royal series, written by Christopher G. Nuttall. This science fiction novel takes place in a future where humanity has expanded into space and established colonies on various planets. The story follows the crew of the HMS Ark Royal, a British space carrier, as they face new challenges and threats.
The book begins with the Ark Royal returning to Earth after a successful mission to defend a colony from an alien race known as the Saurons. However, their homecoming is marred by political turmoil and internal conflicts within the British government. The Prime Minister is facing pressure to cut military spending, which puts the future of the Ark Royal and its crew in jeopardy.
As tensions rise on Earth, a new threat emerges from an unexpected source. A group of rogue officers from the Royal Navy launches a coup against the government, seizing control of several key military assets, including the Ark Royal. Led by Admiral Sir Peter Prescott, these officers believe that Earth should withdraw from its colonies and focus on defending itself against potential alien invasions.
With the Ark Royal under enemy control, Captain Theodore Smith and his loyal crew find themselves in a desperate situation. Cut off from support and facing overwhelming odds, they must find a way to retake their ship and prevent Prescott’s faction from carrying out their dangerous plans.
Smith and his crew devise a daring plan to infiltrate the Ark Royal and neutralize Prescott’s forces. They gather intelligence, recruit allies within the ship, and prepare for a high-stakes battle for control. Along the way, they uncover shocking secrets about Prescott’s true motivations and his connections to powerful figures within the government.
The climax of the story takes place during a decisive battle between loyalist forces led by Smith and Prescott’s faction aboard the Ark Royal. The outcome of this battle will not only determine the fate of the ship but also have far-reaching consequences for the future of humanity’s presence in space.
The Trafalgar Gambit explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and the moral complexities of warfare. It delves into the political machinations that can influence military decisions and the challenges faced by those who must navigate these treacherous waters. The book also examines the impact of personal relationships and individual choices on the outcome of larger conflicts.
Overall, The Trafalgar Gambit is a thrilling and thought-provoking addition to the Ark Royal series. It combines elements of military science fiction with political intrigue, creating a compelling narrative that keeps readers engaged from start to finish.

However, when Ark Royal embarks on a desperate diplomatic mission, it quickly becomes clear that there are both human and alien factions that want to fight to the end – and her previous missions. has sown the seeds of success… or complete failure.
This is a great final book in the series. The author has done a great job with the missing parts of book 2. We see that as we would expect from the Ark Royal crew, they played their part in winning the final battle. and secure peace. I would expect much more from this interesting author.
Nice ending to the first trilogy. Was wondering how the series would continue. I guess the next book series will be in the same universe. Will most likely continue with the series.
I enjoyed the story with its twists and turns. The entertainment factor is very high and I recommend to all my interstellar friends!
This is my second time reading through the Ark Royal series and I feel like it’s my first time reading it. I’m a very visual person and this series has helped me create such vivid images, sometimes I feel like I’m standing right behind the characters and watching their lives unfold before my eyes. There were times when I felt rage welling up within me, followed by fear, intense inner conflict, and tension with exhilaration, followed by tears of emotion that wanted to explode. ! The Trafalgar Gambit sparked my imagination and nurtured my traveling passion for space and future explorations of it. I take my hat off to Christopher Nuttall and his amazing ability to create and tell a great Science Fiction story!
