A Room of One’s Own – Audiobook Online By: Virginia Woolf.

A witty, beautiful plea for gay integrity
When I began Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own (1929), a fictional essay based on the “women and novels” lectures Woolf gave at two of the University’s women’s colleges. At Cambridge, I expected to find an article that supported feminism. Unexpectedly, I found a good, funny, stimulating and enjoyable read. While expressing Woolf’s plea that women should enjoy the same things most men take for granted – enough money, privacy, space, and freedom to live and write the way they want – her book presents a brief history of (mostly) Britons. Although she has twice humorously confirmed to the audience that there were no men hiding in the room, Woolf has written her book for both men and women. And although it was most applicable at the beginning of the 20th century, much of it is still relevant to the early 21st century.

After introducing his core “opinion”, that “a woman must have money and a room of her own if she wants to write a novel”, in the first chapter, Woolf talks about visiting “Oxbridge”. , a fictitious association between the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
