Alexander McCall Smith. Sandra Brown. Faye Kellerman. J.A. Jance. Jeffrey Deaver. Kathy Reichs. Lisa Scottolin. Jeff Lindsay. These are just a handful of the names that make up the star-studded author team behind No Rest for the Dead, a story of revenge, greed and love that unfolds seamlessly, in the words of David Baldacci, as it passes from one creator’s mind to the next.
When Christopher Thomas, a ruthless curator at the McFall Museum of Art in San Francisco, is murdered and his decomposing body is found in an iron maiden at the Berlin museum, his wife, Rosemary, was the prime suspect, and she was tried, convicted, and executed.
Ten years later, Jon Nunn, the detective who solved the case, believes he has killed the wrong person. In the years since the case was closed, he’s discovered a web of deception and betrayal surrounding Thomases that could involve anyone in the crime. With the help of the dead woman’s friend, he plans to gather everyone who was there the night Christopher died and eventually uncover the truth, one suspect at a time. Solving this case may be Nunn’s last chance for redemption… but the dark forces behind Christopher’s death will do nothing to quell the past forever.
In this innovative approach to the story, each of these 25 bestselling authors bring their own distinctive tone into a narrative program, building tension to a shocking ending. and boom NO. No Rest for the Dead is an amazing, page-turning finished product that only my best writers can achieve.
This is a compelling, equally compelling story about a woman named Rosemary who is on death row, accused of murdering her unfaithful, unrepentant husband, Christopher Thomas. The story revolves around the events before and after the murder. The plot intertwines past and present and the 26 authors go above and beyond in executing the interspersed novel seamlessly. Although each author has a unique “tone” for the story, the nuances are subtle and the plot flows very smoothly.
I’m the type of girl who likes to stick with the same author and rarely likes to try someone new. So when I read this novel, it gave me a glimpse of the writing style and creativity of other authors that I didn’t know, and to tell the truth, I was struck by the prose. their chapters, even though the chapters are too short.
The characters are complex and interesting. I suppose my only complaint is that I feel that some of the characters have no flesh, at least, unlike what I’m used to in a novel. That said, it doesn’t detract from the overall fun of the plot.
