It is sad and disappointing that Ian Fleming’s final novel in the James Bond franchise, The Man with the Golden Gun, seems hastily and incompletely written, with a dirty quality and almost violence. atypical in his earlier books. He embodies them with realistic, vivid descriptions of locations that put the reader right at the heart of the action. Golden Gun lacks them a lot.

The first story, Octopussy, finds Bond again in Jamaica, this time with an arrest warrant for a former British army officer for killing a German sympathizer and containing his gold. (This story is not at all like Roger Moore’s 1983 film of the same name.) In the second part, A Lady’s Property, Bond attempts to locate a group interested in purchasing a Faberge egg. .

In The Living Daylights, Bond must travel to Germany and stop a murderer from taking down a Service agent… only to make Bond really uncomfortable inside. (This story is pretty well translated to show in the opening moments of Timothy Dalton’s film of the same name.) Finally, 007 in New York is, 007 in, ah, New York, locating a seemingly co-worker. slept with the enemy. It’s not about the mission but more about the sights and sounds of the Big Apple.
