Story: Lieutenant Xedro Farren is a Primaris Marine, stronger and more adept than the Space Marines his brother was sent to fight with. As the Dark Angels and Primaris Marines battle a traumatic T’au force that wants to destroy their old allies, the real prey becomes apparent – the mastermind in the shadow. The darkness of a spiritual curse could send a chain of the Empire’s planets into madness. As the worlds burned in the flames of war, an unthinkable pact struck, with the Primaris Marines uncovering layer after layer of deception to uncover the horrifying truth. Can Farren hope to break free from this web of lies without losing his honor – or will it be his life?

Pretty good story. Lots of Dark Angely secrets and twists. My problem is some text. Many parts of the book have sections that are too long and tedious, spanning too many explanations and dialogues. I find myself skimming through these sections. Also, and I understand that there must be great and wonderful feats performed by the Space Marines, but some are a bit too awesome. Without giving any real revelations, one Primaris Marine fires an incoming plasma blast with his own plasma weapon, another shoots a skull-shaped crane and drops it on the tau, who are stupid enough to they shot at it (which caused a distraction that allowed the stupid tau to be killed by other marines) and a few others thanks to marksmanship feats and tactical acumen.

There are other similarly absurd things going on throughout the book, making it silly at times. The ending is also a bit strange. It makes no sense as it relates to the events that happened and how the Newborn Dark Angels and the Primaris interacted and discovered things about each other.
