“Will vaccinate you against misinformation!” – Doctor. Jen Gunter, renowned gynecologist and author of The Vaginal Bible.
A fun and practical guide to getting through the day with less stress and better health, from the popular TV presenter’s Manual for Deception of Death.
We make countless decisions every day – maybe even thousands. We make decisions about when to wake up, how to brush our teeth, what to eat for breakfast, how to send our kids to school, how much coffee to drink, and so on.
Making a lot of decisions is difficult. It can cause stock analysts to perform worse and worse over the course of a day. It can lead us to make bad decisions about the food we eat – the more brain fatigue we feel, the more junk food we consume. And the more deliberate a decision is – that is, the more we need to think about it – the more grueling the process becomes. There are many social forces at play that make us choose how and what becomes a process of unnecessary anxiety. But it’s not like that.
In Relax, Dammit!, health policy expert Timothy Caulfield walks us through a typical day–from waking up to bedtime–and shows the science behind actions and habits our acquaintance. What he revealed is that we make decisions based on misinformation to a lesser or greater extent. Whether he’s researching cell phone use, commuting by bike or consuming raw cheese, Caulfield shows that many of the things we believe are healthier, safer, or simpler. is better, it simply isn’t. With a strong foundation of current and reliable scientific findings, the author points to a less stressful path forward–meaning we can all be more relaxed.
Deep, sometimes controversial and always entertaining, Relax, Dammit! is a surprising and liberating guide to modern living.
