Joe has gone deeper into the study of ritual magic and away from his battle team. He’s learning more and more, but more often than not, he doesn’t need to choose between his research and leading the team.

Their rapid rise went unnoticed. The guild received an ultimatum, delivered by assassins and signed in blood. If they continued to accumulate power and fame, each and every person with a grievance against the guild would come to pound the town back into square shape.

When the tension is at its peak, all Joe wants to do is leave it all behind and go to the next area. He flatly refuses the guild when they ask him to think of deadly strategies to use against the assembled army, but when the time comes… even Joe isn’t sure if he will ever come out into the light. spotlight and show everyone exactly how ruthless he can be.

Dakota Kout is one of my favorite authors and I really enjoy his Finisher series for a variety of reasons, one of which is the interesting basis for the world the main character (Joe) is in. living. Take your favorite MMORPG, add some really fun dynamics, add in a bunch of humor, lots of depth and unexplored lore, add in a sarcastic-no-master diet- prisoner, put in a lot of challenges, hundreds (thousands?) of different ways to develop your character, and some twists in the way you think the story will go, and you’ll get that world where Joe lives. Every time I think I’ve figured out how the story is going to progress, something happens that changes it.

I really liked that Joe’s character in this book grew more, as he began to consider more of how his relationships and interactions with those around him help determine choices. his. He was always caring before, always trying and doing many good things, but his personality and relationships are growing bigger and bigger.

D. Kout is trying to put it on my all-time favorite author list. This is a very solid sequel and has done more than tick all the boxes you would expect in a novel and series. Without the spoilers, Joe is becoming one of my favorite characters that you pretty much consider this or that. It’s good to see a character struggle our way, but in a setting that you would think would be beyond your wildest imagination. I like the mix of logic games that define your limits while also giving you limited choices that can lead to infinite highs. It’s this series, it’s this book…read it!!! Or miss out on adding some new fantasy lore to your life.
