The 2084 Report An Oral History Of The Great Warming – Audiobook Online By: James Lawrence Powell

For fans of Drowning World and World War Z, this is “a sobering and terrifying (and engaging) novel – a look at where we’d be if we didn’t act fast together.” each other” (Bill McKibben, New York Times best-selling author) regarding climate change – revealing our potentially terrifying future.

2084: Global warming has proven to be worse than even the worst predictions scientists made at the turn of the century. No country – and no one – remains unharmed. Through interviews with scientists, political leaders and citizens around the world, this fascinating fictional oral history depicts in graphic detail the irreversible effects of global warming for humanity and the planet.

In short chapters on topics such as sea level rise, drought, migration, war, and more, the 2084 Report gives life to global warming, revealing a new reality in which Rotterdam does not exists, Phoenix has no electricity and Canada is part of the United States. From wars for limited resources to mass migrations of entire nations and rising suicide rates, the characters describe other problems they face in the world. Which they share with the next two generations.

“If the existential threat of climate change keeps you up all night, James Lawrence Powell’s 2084 Report will make you want to do everything in your power to elect leaders who will fight against climate change. global warming and save our planet” (Marie Claire).

Not the Author’s. His accent isn’t that of the serious Q and A forms (perhaps it’s better in class or faculty meetings). It’s good to hear some voices from World War Z; for some others, the readings are wooden (but not the part related to pets). Regardless, it’s a story that needs to be told.

Report 2084 is not a bad book. It is filled with important information about climate change presented in fairly easy to understand terms. Only as a novel, as a future history, does it disappoint and eventually fall apart. Its main appeal must be for readers who are against fiction, but who seek insight into climate change patterns in an easy-to-understand form.
