It was supposed to be the debut night of a new pop idol. Tamar Valparaiso is young and beautiful with the body and voice of an angel.

The stage was set up for her to release her debut album Bandersnatch on a luxury yacht in the heart of the city. But when she was halfway through her performance, masked men dragged Tamar off the stage and onto a waiting speedboat, while the partygoers watched helplessly.

Detective Steve Carella had just appeared to change the graveyard shift when news of the kidnapping came in. Working sporadically with the Mixed Task Force calling themselves “The Squad,” Carella and the men and women of the Eight-Seven must find Tamar ahead of time – or indeed her life. – exhausted.

In this brilliant look at the music industry, Ed McBain once again combines his mastery of form with the fast-paced dialogue and intricate plot that have become his hallmark.

They are arresting. Don’t miss any of Ed McBain’s 87th Area novels.

Loved all the books of the 87th precinct, all the Ed McBain novels found them on cassettes in our library in the early ’80s, and BOMC helped out. must have read or heard about everything he wrote. I admire his storytelling, the person he is  thanks now I can hear it again. Fortunately for me.

I’ve been reading books about Site 87 for years. I’m so glad I “accidentally” found this. Some characteristics according to what I have read in the past. But I’m a bit disappointed that nothing new has been revealed about each one. The character is very comfortable. Ed McBain succeeded in adding to the main plot and creating a surprising twist for the finale. I am looking forward to the next part.
