The story is set in England during the early 19th century and follows the journey of Lady Tess Collier, who is forced to marry a man she despises, S.T. Maitland, in order to save her family’s estate from financial ruin. Despite their initial animosity towards each other, Tess and Maitland gradually develop feelings for each other as they embark on a dangerous mission to rescue Tess’s kidnapped brother.

Laura Kinsale’s books are not easy reads, are light romances, and if that’s what you’re looking for, these books aren’t for you. Her character is very, very complex. Just when you think H/H will find it, they won’t. That being said, these books are very well written. You won’t get bored! They very much deserve the credit and this is no different. Her books are automatically downloaded for me.

I love Nicholas Boulton; his narration is superb. I really could listen to his voice all day and I have!
