This novel is more uneven than others I have read by this author. Great writing style, as always, but none of the characters are particularly likable or empathetic. A few minor practical differences bother me as well. Men over 30 MAY pee a lot, or they can’t. Cell phone destroyed or not. A good editor should be aware of those issues.

As always with Denise Mina’s books, great writing, great characters. I really enjoyed it a lot and I adore it all. But. Maybe she should do another draft? It was unbelievable that two well-to-do middle-class women who reported crimes were ignored by the police. And there are a lot of characters that promise to be interesting but are not developed at all.
