Just when you think it’s safe to take the train.

It was supposed to be a peaceful ride. Three-day visit to Chicago for a funeral. But Eugene Pharrell has just stumbled on a crazy dangerous journey back home. One with traps, ghosts, lost worlds, and possibly no way out.

Short but perfectly crafted, this story has all you need for a long train journey, just be careful you don’t get lost!

This is an objective lesson in how to build a short story: the author gives us everything we need to enjoy this dark journey into his version of the Twilight Zone, without a little Any fat to slow us down. He manages to deliver more character and plot elements than some complete novels!

The story starts off pretty simple, but gradually, step by step, we begin to take on a much darker journey than just a train home. Like the central character, we become increasingly disoriented and confused, wondering what will happen next. And like the character, we only have enough pieces to think we have all the answers. The journey may reach the destination, but is that where you expect it to be?

This deserves a second hearing to capture some of the nuances throughout the story, which only become apparent after you’ve finished. The narrator fits the story well and adds flavor to the dialogue, providing a pleasant British accent when required, along with some Clint Eastwood acting snarls!

Absolutely love this and worth the admission.
