- Dragonriders of Pern, Book 15
At a time when no Thread had fallen in centuries – when indeed, many were beginning to dare to hope that the Thread would never fall again – a boy was born in Harper Hall. His name was Robinton, and he was destined to be one of the most famous and beloved leaders Pern had ever known.
It’s a dangerous time for the harp. They sang about Thread, but more and more people began to suspect the return of that deadly scourge. They teach reading, writing, history, but Fax – who hates the harp in general – is determined to keep his burgeoning sphere of influence untouched by a study that could sow unrest. And they praised the dragon riders, who were increasingly seen as depleting the Holds of resources. Now the harps are being rejected; and worse still, they were mocked, attacked, even beaten.
It was the atmosphere of uncertainty that Robinton would come to be his own. Because despite the tragedies that beset his own life, he continues to believe in music and dragons, and is determined to save his beloved Pern from itself. . .so the dragon riders can be ready to fly against the dreaded Thread when it returns for the last time!
I have a hard copy of this book as well as the Kindle version. I’m Anne and her son, Todd, is a McCaffrey fan. When Anne McCaffrey died, a sweet and intelligent storyteller left a void in the world. The world she imagines is very well created, clear and suitable for ages young to adults who like to imagine. I also read all from her Todd in this series. Maybe you’re riding a dragon in heaven, Ms. McCaffery.
