The Nesting By C. J. Cooke – Audiobook Online

The Nesting is a psychological thriller novel written by C. J. Cooke. Published in 2020, the book follows the story of Lexi Ellis, a young woman who escapes her troubled past by taking a job as a nanny in Norway. As she arrives at her remote destination, she finds herself entangled in a web of secrets and mysteries surrounding the family she is working for.

The novel begins with Lexi, who is running away from her life in London after a traumatic event. She accepts a position as a nanny for Tom and Elka Parker, who live in an isolated mansion called Heatherbrae House in Norway. The couple has two young daughters, Gaia and Coco.

Upon arriving at Heatherbrae House, Lexi quickly realizes that things are not as they seem. The house itself holds a dark history, with rumors of hauntings and tragic events that have taken place there. Lexi also discovers that Elka suffers from postpartum depression and is often absent from the house, leaving her alone with the children.

As Lexi delves deeper into the family’s secrets, she uncovers a series of disturbing events that have occurred in the past. She becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of Tom’s first wife, Verity. Lexi’s investigation leads her to believe that Verity might still be alive and hiding somewhere within Heatherbrae House.

As the story progresses, Lexi’s mental state becomes increasingly unstable. She starts experiencing hallucinations and hearing voices, blurring the line between reality and imagination. The isolation of the house and its eerie atmosphere contribute to her growing paranoia.

Lexi forms a bond with Aurelia, a local woman who claims to have information about Verity’s disappearance. Together, they uncover shocking revelations about the Parker family’s history and their connection to Heatherbrae House.

Throughout the book, Cooke skillfully weaves together elements of psychological suspense, Gothic horror, and family drama. The Nesting explores themes of motherhood, identity, and the impact of past traumas on the present.

Architect Tom Faraday was determined to complete the eco-friendly, high-concept home he was building in Norway – the very place where his wife, Aurelia, died by suicide. It was their dream home, and he wanted to honor her with it.

Lexi Ellis takes his job as a nanny and immediately falls in love with his two young daughters, especially Gaia. But something is amiss in the detached house nestled in the woods along the fjord. Lexi sees mysterious muddy footprints inside the house. One day, Aurelia’s diary appears in Lexi’s room. And Gaia keeps telling her about seeing the scary Sad Lady….

Soon, Lexi suspects that Aurelia did not commit suicide and that they are all in danger from something much more sinister lurking around them.

An incredible book! It’s a well-written gothic mystery, set in some beautiful locations, and featuring a variety of well-developed characters and executed by a true professional who knows his voice and voice. she. The last part of this book really brought me to tears. It’s all at once spooky, beautiful, terrifying as hell, profound, and completely understandable. Not a single word is out of place in this beautiful and creepy book. Perfect. My favorite reading in years…

I love CJ Cooke and this book is one of the best! The great story takes an unexpected turn! The narrator is also special. Don’t pass this one.

This story is a little bit supernatural, a little creepy, and finally, a very sweet story. I like it more than I expected.
