The Memory of Babel/ La Passe-Miroir #3 – Audiobook Online Free
The Memory of Babel continues the story of Ophelia, a young woman with the ability to travel through mirrors and manipulate objects through touch. Set in a richly imagined world, the series follows Ophelia’s adventures as she navigates political intrigue, magical abilities, and personal challenges.
In The Memory of Babel, Ophelia finds herself in the floating city of Babel, a place known for its secrecy and power struggles. As she tries to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of Thorn, her fiancé, Ophelia becomes entangled in a dangerous web of conspiracies and hidden agendas.
With the help of unexpected allies and her own wit, Ophelia must navigate the treacherous world of Babel, facing formidable enemies and unraveling the mysteries that lie within the city’s walls. Along the way, she discovers shocking revelations about her own past and the true nature of her abilities.
The Memory of Babel is a thrilling and intricately crafted fantasy novel that combines elements of magic, adventure, and romance. It explores themes of identity, power, and the consequences of choices made in a complex and immersive world.
After two years and seven months bidding her time on Anima, her home ark, it is finally time to act, to put what she has discovered in the Book of Faruk to use. Under an assumed identity, Ophelia travels to Babel, a cosmopolitan and thoroughly modern ark that is the jewel of the universe. Will her talent as a reader suffice to avoid being lured into a deadly trap by her ever more angry adversaries? Will she ever see Thorn, her betrothed, again?
Although the third installment of the Mirror Visitor epic quartet continues after a more than two-year hiatus, the action is fast-paced. Ophelia is given the opportunity to leave Anima—where she is languishing in reading and snacking—in search of her husband, Thorn. Seizing this opportunity, she quickly arrived at the Babel, a ship known for its strict social customs and extensive library.
Ophelia is soon drawn into the backstabbing world of those who aspire to be ‘Virtuos’, as she needs that permission to access the secret files she will tell her more about the great battle. The mysterious cataclysm that destroyed her world. Since Thorn is investigating on his own it is only a matter of time before their paths meet, and she is disheartened to see him become more stern and cold than ever.
Amid a lush backdrop of vivid visuals and fantastic world-building, this installment of political intrigue, murder mystery, and slow romance is an extremely satisfying page-turner. I recommend reading the previous volumes first, as there are quite a few characters and references to previous events won’t make much sense to a reader new to the series.
