Audiobook excellent!
When an author offers a potential reader 22 hours of a book, it’s kind of a contracting offer: “Invest 22 hours of your time and I’ll make it worth your time.” friend.” I went into this (based on the title and reviews) thinking it was going to be an epic ‘Small Army Unit Against Historical Badges Lost in a Tale of Time.’ But this is NOT a bang-bang-shoot-em-up story. It’s an army of thinkers.
Compare the mystery of police procedure to police performance with car chases – this is an ‘anthropological-military procedure’.

(Some reviewers have described “The Martian” as an engineer recounting the real problems of being stranded on Mars, mixed with a singular study of the engineer’s psyche.
It was fascinating. The author knows the real army, weapons and writing style. What is unexpected is that the level of scholarship goes beyond military stuff. It’s a bit rough in everyday human functions… but nothing gratuitous. Other than that, the narrator is really excellent almost worth listening to for yourself. I’m doing something rare…. I highly recommend this book and hope that it can become one you will remember for a long time.
