A Noble Radiance – Commissario Brunetti Mysteries Book 7
A Noble Radiance is the seventh novel in the Commissario Brunetti Mysteries series by author Donna Leon. The story is about a creepy tomb found at the foot of the Dolomites in Italy. The body found was that of Roberto Lorenzoni, the only son and heir of the oldest noble family in Venice. Commissario Guido Brunetti must navigate a power struggle and corruption to unravel the mystery behind the young man’s disappearance and murder.
Here are some comments to help people better understand the content of this book:
01- I have enjoyed this series of books about Commissario Guido Brunetti, police officer and detective who lives and works in Venice. I loved this book with its mysteries surrounding the remains of the kidnapped son of an Earl of Venice. Brunetti reflects on her father-in-law’s assertion that Paola is unhappy in her marriage. Brunetti answers questions about the murder; mystery related to the case, Brunetti’s philosophical thoughts on life, love, truth and justice. I love how modern Venice stands out in each of these books. Through the dialogue and crafting that Donna Leon writes about the main characters in the series, the reader continues to make insightful judgments about Venice’s personality, work, and/or family relationships.
02- Donna Leon wrote this excellent series. Commisario Brunetti, his colleagues and family became friends after a while together. The badly decomposed body of a young man was found by a farmer in a shallow grave. Brunetti suggested that it might be related to a kidnapping of Count Lorenzoni’s son and heir. As usual, Patta Brunetti’s superiors are more concerned with how things are than seeking justice. Brunetti, with the help of Patta’s secretary Elektra and fellow policemen, pursue every clue through the Italian underworld to a satisfying outcome for everyone. This is a great book to read
03- Donna Leon’s book is amazing. She can take mystery to the next level questioning and exploring the ethical issues associated with crime. This novel explores the excesses of the wealthy and contrasts them with Guido’s code of ethics. It’s not just entertainment, the issues seem to go beyond the rules of a city and country. This book is suitable for everyone who is looking for something better than mere mystery and wants to be mentally stimulated.
04- Donna Leon, she has a very different mysterious way of writing. Inspector Guido Brunetti is someone I want to be friends with and his wife is amazing. Strong and bright personality but likes the thick Italian newspapers for all their silly stories. The stories are written from day to day and do not rush to end mysteriously but quickly. This makes it feel like a story to me. While I know that’s all true Venice is amazing and a few more admissions would be great!
05-I have read almost all of Donna Leon’s books. I read them first as an introduction to my trip to Venice. Her hero doesn’t usually bring his villains to justice, but his family is dear and comforting and you’ll come to love them as much as your own.
