Claudia, who started to seat some of her new neighbors, Joey and Nate Nicholls. They are two young boys aged 5 and 7.
As Claudia spends more time with them, she becomes more concerned about their father’s behavior towards his children.

The children seem to be afraid of their father, which concerns Claudia. The father was always nice to Claudia, but his friendliness seemed forced. Mr. Nicholls seems annoyed by little things at first and then one day after sitting at work and Claudia comes back to the house to pick up something she forgot, she witnesses an exchange making her shiver and sad.

She realizes that fathers can abuse their children, and in more ways than emotionally abusive. She then talks to other members of the Babysitter Club and then her mother, and they help her come up with a solution to the situation. And during this time, BSC is helping their local client plan an event to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
