At the request of Luke Skywalker, Talon Karrde goes on an expedition to rescue young students. Anakin Solo has her own ideas. Impatient and realizing that forgiveness is easier to obtain than permission, he takes off for Yavin 4 in his X-wing.

When it comes to confidence, courage, and Raw Force talent, Anakin has very few peers. When his friend Tahiri is separated from the other kids in the academy and captured by Yuuzhan Vong, even Anakin might be in his head. For the aliens there is another future for Tahiri. They will stop at nothing to achieve their terrible goals. . .

The Star Wars story is pretty good, as this one is primarily focused on Anakin Solo, while the other Star Wars books can be everywhere, which isn’t a bad thing either. Reviews below may contain spoilers, so be aware…

Yuuzhan Vong keeps an eye on Yavin 4, the home of the Jedi Academy, and captures the Jeedai, as they call it, to learn how they mark — using the Force — while also wanting to shape them into a Yuuzhan Vong .

Anakin, with the help of the others, an unexpected (maybe not) person, must infiltrate the Yuuzhan Vong camp to rescue his best friend, Tahiri.

The interactions between Anakin and his newfound ally are really good, as we learn how Yuuzhan Vong marks, although it still confuses Anakin. Yuuzhan Vong has a caste system, warriors, guardians, shamers and slaves, among others, I’m sure.

Greg Keyes’ Conquest is the first book in the Edge of Victory duo and the seventh book in the New Jedi Order series. I found it particularly refreshing because we didn’t have to deal with so many Jedi philosophical questions about the rational use of force. Instead, we focus on Anakin and his friend Tahiri and some actual action. Everything happened.

Yuuzhan Vong is so far unstoppable. Now they have demanded the arrest of all Jedi and demanded an end to all hostilities if the Jedi are turned over to them. They especially wanted Jacen Solo. The Peace Brigade will do whatever Yuuzhan Vong wants, and they’re looking for the Jedi. The students at Luke’s Jedi Academy on Yavin 4 were in considerable danger because the ships of the Peace Brigade were already in the Yavin system and a fleet of Yuuzhan Vong was following closely behind.
