This is the eighth book of the John Pearce series. In the last book, Pearce is caught up in the ring of smugglers and smugglers who are hunting him down in this book. In this book, Pearce is commanded by Pitt and begins a mission to communicate with the leaders of the rebellion in Vendee. The situation becomes complicated when his former lover is discovered among the rebels. The rebellion was a disaster and Pierce had to retreat, his former mistress followed and the smugglers still pursuing him.
