Social inequality is built right into our cities, homes, and neighborhoods. The book grapples with the challenge of demanding urban space amid barriers designed to keep women “where they are.” Cities are also perhaps our best hope in shaping new social relationships based on care and fairness.

Kern maps the city from new vantage points, setting out an alternate feminist approach to urban history and the path towards different urban futures.
