Interesting Times/ Discworld, Book 17 – Audiobook Online

Interesting Times is the 17th science fiction book in the Discworld series by author Terry Pratchett.
Many say that the art of diplomacy is a complex and intricate dance between two knowledgeable partners, defined by an elegant and unwritten set of rules. Others say it’s just a matter of who carries the biggest stick. A vast, heavily fortified, and heavily armored empire made a somewhat threatening claim to a much smaller, immensely cowardly neighbor. If not, it is extremely dangerous to not comply; especially if all they want is a wizard and they don’t specify whether capacity is an issue.

For Discworld lovers, this book is the next step for me as Discworld begins to become more glossy and become a universe. The French professors began to come into their own, and their continued curating of the story from Rincewind began to happen naturally.

It’s a book that comes close to being a hit at some point, especially given the re-culture as Terry does so well, yet still feels authentic.

This is the only book where I’ve found that the side story beats the main story. Cohen and the crowd are amazing and overshadow what you would think would be a great character return. Even if you don’t like witch stories, just reading these stories from them is a highlight. It’s a shame they never got their own novel.
