Junk Boy By: Tony Abbott

Junk Boy is a good book by author Tony Abbott.
Tony Abbott is an honest and heartbreaking look at a boy’s trashy life and how he finds redemption and hope.
That’s what the kids at school called Bobby Lang, mainly because his ramshackle house looked like a junkyard, but also because they wanted to bring him down. The home he shares with his angry, neglectful father—Bobby develops a proud kind of loneliness. The only buffer between him and the world that doesn’t care is his love for the long, tree-lined trail between school and home.

Life passed quietly and hopelessly for Bobby until he met Rachel. Rachel is an artist who sees him in a way that no one else has. Maybe it’s because she has her own kind of trash and a parent who hates what Rachel is: gay. Together the two embark on a journey to clean up the messes that fill their lives, seeking hope and redemption despite all the hardships.

Teenagers will love this book so much and will share with their friends!!! Tony Abbott’s poetic novel about Bobby Lang, who is called a trash boy because he lives in a house that is sure to be a hoarding situation for anyone who sees cars, trash , furniture littered all over the yard and house. Bobby’s dad is an alcoholic, doesn’t work, and looks down on his son on a daily basis. At school, Bobby tries to be invisible but one day he gets embroiled in a fight going on in the classroom.

What he found changed his life; a mother is slapping and scolding her daughter (because she is gay). When she leaves, after angrily demeaning him, Bobby helps the girl hang the art posters — thus beginning Bobby and Rachel’s strange relationship. Rachel becomes his friend, drags him to art shows and tells him how much she hates her mother. But things don’t always go well between them, Rachel has anger issues, lashing out, and Bobby becomes her target too. As their friendship develops, Bobby begins to seek help for himself and Rachel. When both teenagers are abused, can both rise above and become better?
