Love Bites is the first book in the Thicker than Water series by author Ann-Katrin Byrde.
Other parents give their kids toys and party games for their birthdays. My father gave me and my siblings wooden stakes and flash grenades. To protect us from vampires.

When he adopted us, he warned us of the dangers lurking in the dark. I thought he was crazy. Vampires aren’t real, and I’ve had enough of a panic attack not believing my dad’s crazy ideas.

Talon has attractive scars and a mouth I want to kiss and a body I want to feel – and fangs.
The weapon Dad gave me was starting to look really useful.

I don’t want to fight Talon. I want to feel his teeth on my neck. I cannot explain it. He made my knees weak.

When Talon bit me, I forgot everything, including the fact that he was a monster. Even if I shouldn’t love him. Even the fact that his team wants me dead.

I would consider this book like writing a story: starting at the beginning of my reading journey and ending with this review.

Let’s talk about that cover: it’s pretty cool. It conveys darkness, romance and lots of vampires. The typography is great as well. The first few chapters of this book told me it could have been done with a little more editing—but has a lot of potential.
