Liv Varanakis doesn’t have many fond memories of her father, which makes sense – he fled to Greece when she was 8 years old. Liv remembers their shared love for Greek mythology and the lost city of Atlantis. When Liv suddenly receives a postcard from her father explaining that National Geographic is funding a documentary about his theory about Atlantis – and will she fly to Greece and help? – Liv took the opportunity.

When she arrived at the gorgeous Santorini, things were a bit… awkward. There were many questions, so many emotions, after meeting his father for the first time in many years. However, Liv doesn’t want their past in the way of reconciliation. She also certainly doesn’t want Theo – who her father calls his charismatic “protector” – to witness her struggle. Santorini delivers – stunning sunsets, turquoise waters, mysterious caves and delicious food.

Not everything on the Greek island is as perfect as it seems. Because as Liv slowly begins to discover, her father may not have invited her to Greece for Atlantis, but for something much more important.

This is the first book I read by Jenna Evans Welch, and maybe it was my fault to start with the third book in the series. To be fair – my understanding is that they can be read as standalone. I would give the author another chance but this is disappointing.

When it comes to romance, I have two very opposite tastes – I like super dark, toxic relationships and sweet cinnamon rolls in love. I picked this one up to find a novel that fits the second genre.
