Mirage By Clive Cussler | The Oregon Files Book 9 | Best Literature & Fiction

Mirage is an adventure and thriller novel written by Clive Cussler and Jack Du Brul. It serves as the ninth book in The Oregon Files series. Cussler is a renowned author of adventure and nautical fiction. He has written a plethora of bestselling books, one of them being Dragon. You can also read Wrath of Poseidon if you want more of his work.

Scott Brick is back for the narration of this book. We know how great of a combination Scott is with this genre. His different voices for all the characters add to the experience of the novel.

In October 1943, A U.S. destroyer vanished all of a sudden as it sailed out of Philadelphia. This was supposedly the result of a Navy experiment with electromagnetic radiation. Then, reports came that the story was a hoax and it never happened for real. However, our crew and Juan aren’t convinced. They know that something is up and that something might hold the fate of the country.

Soon, there is talk of an auction with a new weapon. It is reported to be very dangerous to American interests. Rumors link this weapon to the inventions of the great Nikola Tesla. He was working with the Navy when he died in 1943. Could it be possible that he was responsible for the experiment? Could his notes be in the possession of the enemies? Cabrillo races to find the answers. He doesn’t know much more is going on than meets in the eye in this case.

There is plenty of adventure and action as we have come to expect from the series along with the semi-history lesson. The book follows the same formula that the old ones follow; still, it proves to be a successful one.
