In No Time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality, Michael shares personal stories and observations about illness and health, old age, the strength of family and friends, and our perception of time. How time affects the way we approach death. Thoughtful and moving, but with Fox’s signature sense of humour, his audiobook provides a vehicle for reflecting on our lives, love, and losses.
Throughout the story is the drama of the medical frenzy that Fox has recently been going through, including his day-to-day negotiations with Parkinson’s disease he’s had since 1991 and a mental health problem. spinal cord requires immediate surgery. His ordeal of learning how to walk, only to suffer a horrible fall, almost caused him to give up his signature optimism and “quit the lemonade business altogether.”
Does he make all the way back?
Inspiring, beautifully presented, and grateful for your words. I am also going through a health problem, not the same illness as yours but a similar one. I’ve been battling it for over a year and only recently had some pea-sized success. But then I lost my job and the unfortunate battles with the insurance company sometimes felt too much. I appreciate your struggle and strength, it has inspired me to keep fighting.
