Now it’s Stephanie’s job to track down that man. Unfortunately, Cubbin disappeared without a trace, witness or his money-hungry wife. Rumor has it that he must have been helped in the daring escape… or perhaps he never escaped from his room alive.

The real problem is, not having Cubbin also means there is no way to pay the rent. Desperate for money – or maybe just desperate – Stephanie accepts a side job protecting her secret and talkative mentor Ranger from a dangerous Special Forces foe. While Stephanie is known for always looking for trouble, she probably found a little more than she bargained for this time around. Then again – a bit of food poisoning, some threatening notes and a bridesmaid dress with too much taffeta never killed anyone…. Or did they?

I have listened to every novel by Stephanie Plum and as always, I have not been disappointed. There are times when I want to shake her when she keeps making silly mistakes, but this is quickly forgotten with the humor of Mom and Dad, Grandma, Lula, Connie, the usual likable villain and chemical reaction between two people. the men in her life, Ranger and Morelli, both of whom I have a slight crush on. In fact, I hope she never chooses between them because that would ruin everything. I absolutely love these novels and his narrator is, as always in this series, fantastic.
