Just finished reading this incredible book, Once A Warrior. This book is a memoir written by Team Rubicon Co-Founder and CEO, Jake Wood. This book follows Jake’s journey during his time in the Marines on two tours of duty, as his teams form Team Rubicon in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and through the its growth today as one of the leading disaster response teams in the world.

This book covers some interesting topics like why some veterans join the armed forces and how that experience shaped some of the greatest leaders of today. As well as the transition from military life to civilian life and the struggles of some veterans from having that sense of purpose to getting lost in the daily turmoil of civilian life.

Jake talks about losing a dear friend to his hands and how he’s met so many great veterans struggling with depression and PTSD, which is a topic that unfortunately is a lot of us can also relate to..
